Hungarian National Hearing: “The population retention capacity of the Danube region, and of Hungary in particular (vital and shrinking spaces), and the creation of more liveable settlements to prevent the brain drain”

The annual EUSDR National Hearing aims to involve domestic stakeholders in the implementation of the Danube Strategy adopted during the Hungarian EU Presidency in 2011 and to maintain a regular dialogue. The theme of this year’s event, proposed by the Danube Youth Council, is the population retention capacity of the Danube region, and of Hungary in particular (vital and shrinking spaces), and the creation of more liveable settlements to prevent the brain drain.

The main objective of the event is to present, through invited expert speakers, the experiences, opportunities and ideas of the Danube Region and Hungary in creating more liveable and sustainable settlements, as well as projects and good practices to retain talent.

The participants of the event are mainly from local governments, regional and county authorities, research institutions, professional organisations and civil society actors interested in the topic of the hearing and the event will allow them to have a more informal exchange of ideas, learn about current regional/home trends and good practices.
