EU Strategy for the Danube Region at a glance (2019)

An important activity for EUSDR is promoting its actions and achievements to strengthen ties to regional, national, and international stakeholders. For this, a leaflet was developed and translated into all 12 languages of the Danube Region.

The leaflet developed in 2019 presents briefly the EUSDR and its pillars.

All together, we need to protect nature and people and build a prosperous region with a healthy environment, equal societies, and high living standards. We need to create sustainable jobs and open up fair opportunities – all the way between the Black Forrest and the Black Sea. Environmental protection, sustainable transport, faster ITC connectivity, competitiveness of European businesses, and security in the region need to be backed by sustainability, supporting circular economy and led by knowledge-based and information society.

EUSDR – Cooperating for sustainable growth and security (EN, 2010)

“The Danube Region is a functional area defined by its river basin. European Union Strategy for Danube Region tackles priorities in an integrated way.

In the Region, there is a need to connect people, their ideas and needs. Transport interconnections must be modernised, and informatics access improved. Energy can be cheaper and more secure, thanks to better links and alternative sources. Development can be balanced with protection of the environment, within a sustainable development approach, in line with the environmental acquis communautaire as applicable. Work together is needed to minimise risks and disasters such as floods, droughts and industrial accidents. By building on considerable research and innovation perspectives, the Region can be at the forefront of EU trade and enterprise. Disparities in education and employment can be overcome. It can be made a safe and secure area, where conflict, marginalisation and crime are properly addressed.”
