SECCo2 – sharing knowledge and information on successful cross-border cooperation models

PA10 – the priority area aiming at stepping up institutional capacity and cooperation – addresses institutional capacity-building at local, regional and national level, involvement of civil society in public governance, increasing local development and better spending as well as increasing absorption rates of EU funds.
At the same time @EUSDRPA10 serves as an information and communication hub for eligible stakeholders responsible and works in the field of institutional capacity building, participative governance and spatial development. The activities of @EUSDRPA10 aim at supporting policy and project development, stakeholder relations and capitalisation in the Danube Region.
#EUSDR This week story presents you an example of how projects reach the objectives of @EUSDRPA10.
A general challenge in the border area is represented by the causes of the borders changed over the last century, which is still causing traumas, hostility and lack of trust between the nations. The SECCo2 project came with a solution to create a cross-border cooperation network, mainly for the people, institutions and enterprises close to the state borders in order to avoid separations of the neighbouring territories in legal, administrative, economic and social-cultural terms as well.
The project team thought of developing the SECCo2 Platform (www.secco2.eu) dedicated to share knowledge and information on successful cross-border cooperation models. The platform was also created in order to create the opportunity for the next generations to develop more tolerant environment within the two macro-regions.
Using this platform as an on-line meeting point (one stop shop), different types of CBC actors can share information, build partnerships, launch joint projects and access the already existing useful knowledge base and materials on the topic. The platform provides a cross-border cooperation tool-kit containing e-learning type contents, access to financial resource portals (e.g. https://www.euro-access.eu/) and a digital library with studies, policy documents and further materials on cross-border cooperation – all these are aimed at improving the capacities of the local stakeholders.
While developing this platform, SECCo2 project considered organizing the 10th edition of the International Youth Forum & Conference on CBC in Tivat (Montenegro) in order to reinforce the AEBR’s Young Leaders Platform (group of youngsters from all over Europe), with focus on the next generations who has a crucial role in guaranteeing the sustainability of cross-border cooperation initiatives.
The project showed its efficiency: a growing on-line, macro-regional cross-border cooperation community, regular information flow on cross-border cooperation issues, regularly updated information stock on the topic, organizing an international event with 120 participants from all over the @EUSDR and @EUSAIR, increase in the members of the Young Leaders Platform of CBC, regular webinars for youngsters.
Based on their results, the projects experts expect to improve the discourse on borders and the environment for partnership building within the two macro-regions.
Trust your neighbor, keep peace and grow together!
