The EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) continues to emphasise youth involvement in addressing regional challenges and opportunities. In this context, the Danube Youth Council (DYC) and the Danube Youth Organisations Network (DYON) were established to foster greater youth engagement and cooperation.
The EUSDR National Coordinators endorsed the Proposal for the establishment of the EUSDR Danube Youth Council (DYC) & Danube Youth Organisations Network (DYON) in March 2022.
The Danube Youth Council (DYC) is an independent advisory body that collaborates with EUSDR governance and other institutions. It aims to provide input on youth-related policies, empowering young voices in decision-making.
Complementing the DYC, the Danube Youth Organisations Network (DYON) focuses on institutional outreach. Launched as an open network of youth organisations across the Danube Region, DYON facilitates collaboration, resource sharing, and the exchange of best practices among youth organisations. While the DYC represents individuals, the DYON focuses on connecting youth organisations to reach a wider audience and promote community engagement.
Together, the DYC and DYON aim to harness the creativity and energy of young people, driving positive impact in areas such as sustainable development, social cohesion, and cultural exchange within the Danube Region.
DYON establishment concept (September 2024)
Following the establishment of DYON, any national or regional youth organisations or other entities working on youth issues with a non-profit profile functioning in the Danube Region participating countries may join DYON after filling and sending the DYON Expression of Interest.
