2nd Danube Youth Camp & POPRI Startup Challenge
The 2nd Danube Youth Camp takes place at the end of the first-ever Danube Youth Council (DYC) mandate – a milestone for the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in integrating the Danube Region’s youth into the EUSDR governance and implementation.
At this occasion, all 28 DYC members will gather in Šempeter pri Gorici, Slovenia to meet, discuss and learn. During a reflection workshop on Saturday, 21 October 2023, the DYC members will look back on their DYC mandate, jointly reflect experiences, challenges and lessons learnt, discuss the future developments of the DYC and formulate recommendations for its future work, moving from the one-year Pilot Action to a long-term implementation format.
From 22-23 October, the DYC members will participate in the POPRI Startup challenge. The POPRI startup challenge is an event using a capacity building method for enhancing entrepreneurial and leadership skills, that has already been carried out with more than 3.800 young participants from different European countries and macro-regional strategies. Specifically for the DYC, the successful POPRI method has been adapted to the topic of the importance of young talents and possible ways to tackle brain drain. With the POPRI Startup Challenge, organised by Primorski tehnološki park in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and Danube Strategy Point, we bring together young people who have the opportunity to take control of their future today. In addition to the DYC members, also selected young participants from the other three macro-regional strategies (EUSALP, EUSAIR and EUSBSR) will participate in this event.
The whole event is carried out under the Slovenian EUSDR Presidency, and jointly organised by Primorski tehnološki park, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, EuroVienna and the Danube Strategy Point.
Following the 2nd Danube Youth Camp and the POPRI Startup challenge, all 28 DYC members will participate physically in the 12th EUSDR Annual Forum, held in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia, on 24-25 October 2023. The Annual Forum is the biggest annual event of the EUSDR and the major exchange and networking stage organised by the respective EUSDR Presidency. In the framework of this event, the DYC members will organise and run an own panel, to present the outcomes of the POPRI Startup challenge and learnings from the DYC mandate to the EUSDR stakeholders, the Danube Region Strategy community and beyond.
