Dear friends of the Danube Strategy,
Winter is fast approaching and almost 1 million Ukrainians are without energy supply. With energy companies running out of repair equipment to restore the energy system, our Ukrainian neighbours risk staying in the dark with no electricity, heating, hot water and hot food.
Europe’s biggest cities will donate power generators and transformers to help Ukrainians get through the harsh winter ahead, as part of a drive launched on Wednesday, according to @Reuters.
European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, and Energy Community Secretariat Director, Artur Lorkowski, launch a joint appeal to ramp up emergency equipment donations to Ukraine.
Governments, companies & associations beyond the energy sector can contact the Energy Community Secretariat’s Ukraine Support Task Force for the most recent list of urgent needs & assistance in the donation process.
We kindly ask you to forward the strong call for winterisation items to your stakeholders and networks, not only in the energy sector but also manufacturing and automotive industries, national/regional/local governments, associations or other private companies. For anyone willing to donate the needed goods, a door-to-door transportation is offered, which is free of charge (covered by the EU).
All donations should be channelled via the Energy Community Secretariat based in Vienna (which closely works with DG ECHO), which is serving as an entry gate to donate energy equipment for the Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure, based on the needs list compiled by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
Further information can be found at the Energy Community Secretariat.
A list containing the necessary equipment was made available on November 18th, 2022 and it can be consulted here: List of priorities for winterization of Ukraine.
