After receiving finishing touches in the course of an NC & PAC feedback round in December 2020 and January 2021, the EUSDR Needs Assessment on the engagement in Steering Groups was just finalised!

 

Aiming to support evidence-based decision making within the EUSDR and to strengthen the coordination among EUSDR stakeholders, the document consists of five chapters:

 

– Sources, Groundwork and Governance Structure of the EUSDR Steering Groups describes the developments in the EU Strategy for the Danube Region as regards the SGs, their organisation and role and responsibilities within the Priority Areas;

 

– Factors influencing the participation in Steering Groups: findings across the EUSDR presents elements that influence and lead to current stakeholder engagement;

 

– Comparative perspective: determinations and possible approaches offers examples of lessons learned and good practices derived from the experience of EUSDR Priority Areas and further provides information on similar structures from the other three macro-regional strategies;

 

– Conclusion reflects on the operational, functional and executive aspects that lead to ensuring increased ownership and engaging the necessary resources for successful EUSDR implementation.

 

 

In addition, Annex I provides the new template list for Steering Group members, Annex II offers an overview of the 12 Priority Areas’ Rules of Procedure, Annex III outlines excecutive aspects of organising Steering Group meetings and Annex IV summarises the results of a PAC survey carried out to consolidate the desk research conducted for the SG Needs Assessment.

 

The document is addressed at all EUSDR Priority Area stakeholders – be it those with longstanding experience within the Danube Region Strategy or newcomers. Especially for newcomers to the Strategy, however, the Needs Assessment on the engagement in Steering Groups certainly provides valuable context information for cooperation within or with Steering Groups as well as a number of good practices to be applied.
