The fifth edition of the Mediterranean Coast and Macro-regional Strategies Week 2020, under #SloPresidencyEUSAIR, begun with an event dedicated to Tourism recovery through cooperation – a macro-regional approach to form strong political messages.
With the support of the European Commission, DG REGIO and DG GROW, as well as EUSAIR Facility Point, all macro-regional strategies stood united at the same table discussing the present situation in tourism, presenting possible solutions for tourism recovery and building on cooperation.
EUSDR Priority Area 3 was present at the event sharing “EUSDR “Danube-region-tourism-priorities”.
Experts of the European Commission from DG Regio and DG Grow discussed about the importance of the industrial and tourism ecosystems for the recovery, visitor economy and COVID-19 global impact on tourism (negative turnover in bookings, restaurants and air transport, steep fall in demand for international trips etc.). The conclusions showed that only working together we can build the road to sustainable recovery: EU Tourism – towards sustainable recovery
These points of view were accompanied by the findings of the research study “Impact assessment analysis of Covid-19 on tourism and recovery through cooperation in the EU macro-regions”.
