PA 2 Workshop: Electricity Markets and the Role of Renewable Electricity
It is our pleasure to inform you that the ‘Sustainable Energy’ Priority Area (PA2) of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) together with the Regional Centre for Energy Policy Research (REKK) organise two online seminars entitled
NATIONAL ENERGY AND CLIMATE PLANS OF DANUBE REGION COUNTRIES |
Electricity Markets and the Role of Renewable Electricity: Renewable Heat and Biomass: Participation is free but registration is required |
PA2 has recently published the study “NATIONAL ENERGY AND CLIMATE PLANS IN THE DANUBE REGION“, providing a comparative assessment of the targets, measures and expected outcomes laid down in the National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) of EU member states belonging to the Danube Region, and the energy strategies of the non-EU Danube Region countries where NECPs are in progress. Based on this study, REKK has prepared 4 policy briefs in the topics of electricity, natural gas, heating and cooling, transport. The policy briefs cover individual Danube Region national energy and climate strategies and the expected developments in the region. Based on these policy briefs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary and REKK organise two workshops, to present the most important results of the analysis and discuss the lessons learnt with experts from the region. The first workshop will focus on the ambitions and policy tools aimed at transforming the electricity and gas markets in the region, while the second workshop will cover two important energy policy areas largely influencing decarbonisation efforts in the (yet) non-ETS sectors: the deployment of renewable energy in the heating and cooling sector, and the transport sector. |
